Carbon County Facility Release Paths
Carbon County Correctional Facility, often shortened to CCCF, is the county's active correctional institution in Nesquehoning. It holds county pretrial defendants, county-sentenced people, and other lawful temporary holds. It is operated by Carbon County under the Prison Board and warden. It is not a state prison, and Sheriff Daniel Zeigler's office does not operate it. That division matters when seeking a release record.
A person may leave CCCF for the community on unsecured or monetary bail, recognizance, time served, dismissal, expiration of a county sentence, or county parole. A court-ordered restrictive alternative can also place a person outside jail under conditions. County parolees move to an approved plan supervised by Carbon County Adult Probation/Parole. Administrative Order 9-2020 requires covered parole releases to report to that office and the Bureau of Collections within 72 hours.
Other exits continue custody. A state sentence can lead to PA DOC classification and assignment to an institution elsewhere. A detainer can send the person to another county. Federal or immigration matters can cause a handoff to USMS, BOP, or ICE. The facility's release authority and destination fields distinguish those outcomes. “Released by CCCF to PA DOC” is a transfer, not a community release.

Confirm Carbon County Facility Releases
No official Carbon County current roster, recent-release archive, 24-hour list, 72-hour list, or jail-information app was located in the official sweep through August 1, 2026. A missing name cannot be treated as proof. Confirmation instead joins the CCCF record to the criminal docket and any custody or supervision record that follows.
- Call CCCF with the full name and known booking or case date. Ask if the local custody episode ended, the release date and type, and whether another agency received the person.
- Search the UJS criminal docket by participant or docket number. Review bail, disposition, sentence, parole, and later orders for the correct Carbon County case.

A useful request names one person and an approximate booking period. Ask for the existing booking or intake entry, actual release date and time, release type or authority, and receiving agency or transfer destination. A booking photograph may be requested if needed, subject to exemptions and redaction. Ask for electronic copies and segregable fields. Do not require the county to create a new certificate or compile a custom list.
The Carbon County open-records page supplies the form and policy. Under Pennsylvania's Right-to-Know Law, an agency ordinarily responds within five business days by granting, denying, or invoking a lawful extension. Criminal-investigation material, personal identifiers, other laws, and court orders can limit access. Judicial records follow court access rules rather than automatically passing through the county executive-record process.

Carbon County Facility Custody Profile
The PA DOC 2025 county-prison inspection schedule classifies CCCF as a county institution and lists a capacity of 248 beds. Sources conflict on the current warden, so no person's name should be treated as current without direct county confirmation. County prisons are outside ordinary PA DOC institution jurisdiction even though the state inspects them and a later sentence may transfer someone into the state system.
Historical county reports listed 1,077 admissions in 2013, 1,131 in 2014, and 1,206 in 2015. The reported average daily populations were 207, 207, and 217 for those years. These dated figures describe admissions and average population, not release totals. They should not be used to estimate current daily releases.

Carbon County Facility ICE Transfers
The older CCCF history states that the county began an INS contract in June 1998 for criminal and noncriminal detainees. The official research sweep did not find current proof that this contract remains active. It is therefore a historical fact, not a claim about today's population or release practice.
If a current CCCF release entry names ICE, the person was transferred out of county custody. That is not evidence of release into the community. Search ICE ODLS promptly because its released-person visibility is limited. The preferred ODLS route uses an exact nine-digit A-number and country of birth; the alternate uses exact name, country of birth, and optional date of birth.
A no-result does not settle the question. It may reflect transfer, removal, release outside the displayed period, spelling differences, age limits, or a record outside public display rules. Keep CCCF's destination field and use the ICE Detention Reporting and Information Line when the locator cannot resolve the transfer.
Carbon County Facility Release History
Carbon County's former jail in Jim Thorpe served for about 130 years. It closed on January 23, 1995, when prisoners moved to the current Nesquehoning facility. The old building is now a museum. It is not an active jail, release location, or records contact.
This distinction prevents a common search error. A genuine page about the “Old Jail” can rank prominently, but its visitor information has nothing to do with a present booking or release. The active CCCF address is 331 Broad Street in Nesquehoning. The 2025 state inspection schedule, not the museum, provides the current county-institution classification and bed count.
Older facility reports also mention education, counseling, alternative work, and community support programs. Their present availability is not established. Program participation can matter to a county sentence under local good-time rules, but any current eligibility or schedule must be confirmed through the facility and the sentencing order.
Plan Carbon County Facility Releases
No official general release hour, exit door, weekend or holiday process, family waiting area, or property-return protocol was published. Call CCCF before travel. A minimum date or court order is not a promised pickup time because records checks, fingerprints, property handling, detainer review, and receiving-agency coordination may still remain.
Carbon Transit Route 702 provides weekday service in Nesquehoning, and Route 701 runs on a limited Monday, Wednesday, and Friday pattern. The published map names community stops but does not name CCCF as a stop. Neither the route map nor the county material supports a promise that a bus reaches the jail gate or that the facility supplies a ride.
